Concert and Dance Party A fiery Boston-based 8-piece Balkan Rom (Gypsy) Band! |
|
Passionate, high energy songs and dance music from the Rom people of Eastern Europe, with great complex rhythms and melodies! Rakiya is named for the fiery fruit brandy which is popular in the Balkans, and mentioned in many songs of the region. Though it is sold in stores, the best rakiya is home-made, and this particular batch was brewed secretly in a cold, dark basement somewhere in Brighton. MA. Rakiya performs electric, very danceable Balkan Rom (Gypsy) songs and dance tunes.Dean Brown: Percussion Colin Ferguson: Accordion, keyboard, dumbek Dave Golber: C clarinet Heather Lee: Vocals Alan Mattes: Tenor Sax, flugelhorn Tim McNerney: Bass Tev Stevig: Guitar, cumbus Patrick Yacono: Clarinet $10 at the door For further info, contact ddeanbrown@comcast.net |
