David Thorne Scott and Mark Shilansky perform fresh treatments of jazz standards as well Scott's original tunes in a freewheeling duo performance.

David Scott and Mark Shilansky have been playing music together for over five years, but it took a fortuitous accident to bring about their latest project.  David had a collection of 20 or so new arrangements and new songs, and had the idea to go into the recording studio with Mark to create demo versions of as many songs as they could crank out in three hours.  The result was a sublime meeting of the minds: the music called out to be released as a CD, called DYAD.  A dyad is something that consists of two parts, such as a musical chord containing only two tones. This concert is part of a CD release tour encompassing small jazz clubs and singer/songwriter rooms to an 800-seat theater, beginning in Massachusetts and progressing through Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas.

David Thorne Scott is among the few young jazz singers on the scene today that can boast of both an exceptional voice and a unique personal style.  With a voice that is powerful, tender, pure, and clear, David bends standards into new and expressive shapes and blazes into fiery vocal improvisation.

Dave has shared the stage with Kevin Mahogany, Jon Secada, Gloria Estefan, Darmon Meader (New York Voices), Richie Cole, Cheryl Bentene (Manhattan Transfer), Bruce Forman, Michele Weir, Tim Ray (Lyle Lovett), Hal Galper, Jo Lawry, John Ellis, Andy McKee and Manolo. He is a member of the vocal jazz  groups Vocalogy (L.A.) and Syncopation (Boston). He is an Associate Professor of Voice at the Berklee College of Music.
