Called the “Manhattan Transfer of the 21st Century” (Boston Globe), Syncopation was formed in January 2002 at Berklee College of Music and mentored by the Manhattan Transfer’s Cheryl Bentyne. The group performs dynamic, original arrangements of swing, Latin and pop tunes, as well as a cappella jazz and improvisation pieces. Syncopation has performed at festivals including the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, the Boston Globe Jazz Festival, and IAJE conferences. The group has toured Japan several times. They often perform as vocal quartet plus rhythm section, but for this more intimate show they will perform as a self-contained quartet, singing a cappella and playing piano, trumpet and trombone. |
